I was reading a an Associated Press article on the Washington Post website about how libraries are keeping up with the technology age. The article does not talk about digital referencing but because of technology you would think that people would stay away from the library but the article states different. Here is a link Libraries Launch apps to sync with iPod generation
I think if it gets people reading and using the library, all the better. One question I have is regarding music downloads from the library's collection. Essentially they're duplicating and distributing material, but are they paying some kind of licensing fee that allows them to do this? The music industry continues to see cd sales fall because people are either downloading songs or are copying and distributing music. I have to wonder about printed materials as well. Do libraries have to pay a licensing fee to distribute materials digitally?
ReplyDeleteBecause technology grows more quickly, everything that relates it must adapt as soon as the growth of it. Therefore, library's services today are very differect from the past. However, it's very important to think more about the different types of users. Because there are both library's traditional users and library's online users,so library's traditional services are as important as library's online services nowadays.
